TL;DR — In 60 Seconds
- O&O ShutUp10++ — free and portable, almost 300 privacy settings with recommendation levels. The best free pick if you only want less data sent to Microsoft.
- DoNotSpy11 — free with 259 settings; Pro is pay-what-you-want ($5–20) and adds profiles. The download is not code-signed.
- NoID Privacy — privacy and security hardening: 424 Microsoft Security Baseline settings, 19 ASR rules, a verification report and an exact way back.

The Difference That Matters: Privacy Without Losing Protection
Anti-spy tools reduce what Windows sends to Microsoft. Part of that traffic is security: Defender's cloud protection checks unknown files against Microsoft's cloud, SmartScreen checks downloads and websites, and Windows Update delivers patches. Both tools offer switches that turn some of this off — O&O ShutUp10++ for Defender's SpyNet membership, sample submission and malware reporting, DoNotSpy11 additionally for SmartScreen URL checks, automatic Windows Updates and the Malicious Software Removal Tool.
That can be a reasonable choice if another antivirus protects the PC — O&O's own manual says so and labels such settings. But on most Windows 11 PCs, Defender is the antivirus, and switching off its cloud layer trades protection for privacy.
When a Free Tool Is Enough
If you mainly want to switch off telemetry, advertising IDs and Copilot — quickly and at no cost — O&O ShutUp10++ is a solid choice: free for personal and commercial use, portable and actively maintained (version 3.6.1135, released 29 September 2026). Start with its “Recommended” settings and leave the Defender switches alone unless another antivirus is running.
Comfortable in PowerShell? Our own NoID Privacy Shell is free, open source and runs the full hardening engine — Pro adds the guided app, visual reports and support.
When NoID Privacy Pro Is the Better Choice
- You want Windows harder to attack, not just quieter — Security Baseline, ASR rules and credential protection where your edition and hardware support it.
- You want proof, not switches — the built-in report checks every declared target on the running system.
- You want an exact way back — each target is sealed in a local backup before it changes.
- You want one guided run — three profiles and every decision explained in plain words, instead of hundreds of individual switches.
- You want to own it — €39.00 one-time incl. VAT, all updates included, 14-day money-back.
Example system: a Windows 11 Pro 26H2 test installation, from the app's two built-in verification reports (3 October 2026).
Can You Use Them Together?
Yes, but most people don't need to. Where an anti-spy tool changes a setting that NoID Privacy also manages, the last tool to write wins — and NoID's report shows every target that no longer matches your profile. Our advice: one tool per setting. If you keep an anti-spy tool next to NoID Privacy, skip its Defender, SmartScreen and Windows Update switches.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is O&O ShutUp10++ really free?
Yes. The free edition costs nothing for personal and commercial use and runs without installation. The optional Premium edition (from $14.90) installs a background service that re-applies your settings after Windows updates.
Is DoNotSpy11 free?
The free edition offers 259 settings. Pro is pay-what-you-want ($5–20) and adds saved profiles. According to the vendor, the program is not code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may warn on first launch; the vendor publishes MD5 checksums for its downloads.
Does NoID Privacy run on Windows 10 or ARM devices?
No. NoID Privacy supports Windows 11 24H2, 25H2 and 26H2 on x64 (AMD64). On Windows 10, both anti-spy tools are options; O&O also offers an ARM64 build.
Does NoID Privacy replace an anti-spy tool?
For most people, yes in substance: its profiles cover telemetry, advertising, Copilot and Recall policies and Edge privacy settings. It does not mirror every individual switch of O&O ShutUp10++ or DoNotSpy11 — if one specific switch matters to you, check our feature list first.
